Beloved Members of our Community,
Unity for Gallaudet!
Yep, it's been a couple days since we last sent you
an update - - hope
you can forgive us - - however, this doesn't mean
nothing has happened
the last two days! We have been working hard
in getting our website set
up and we are now proud to announce that you can visit
www.gallyfssa.org
to receive frequent updates. Our website includes
information such as
our letters, video clips, talking points, press
releases, and many
more!
We saw many, many, many (we could go on forever on
the many's, but we'll
stop here) alumni come in from everywhere, close and
far, so we would
like to THANK YOU ALL for coming in to provide us with
your support! Of particular note, thanks
to the San Francisco Bay Area for sending Bridgetta
Bourne-Firl and David Eberwein. Bridgetta
gave a profound speech at our Friday rally and David
Eberwein provided us with an
unforgettable presentation on Deafhood in Tent City
last night!
We are continuing to seek community contacts, so each
local community
can have someone to keep them in touch about what they
can do to support
our cause.
Ideas include writing an open letter to the Board of
Trustees, hosting a
forum or mini-rally, or creating a v-log (video blog).We
have about 10
communities so far, but if you are interested and know
your community
does not have a contact representative, contact us
at
UniteGally@aol.com!
We also had a dynamic and thunderous rally yesterday
with Anthony
Mowl telling the crowd how important it was
for us to be persistent,
continually chipping at the system that got us into
this mess.
Additionally, Greg Hlibok made an appearance and
encouraged us to keep
on and not give up! You can view clips of each
rally on the following
link: http://bisontv.com/forum1.html
Donations continue to pour in and the signatures
on our petition
continue to grow. Events will be hosted
throughout the week, including
forums, and entertainment, so check out www.gallyfssa.org
for
schedules/meals, and join us at our special Tent City
when you can! Keep
on spreading the word - - we need all the support you
can provide!
For an unified Deaf community,
Tawny Holmes ('04)
Matthew Lockhart ('94)
