Subject: Lockdown of Gallaudet campus
Date: Thu, 4 May 2006 10:46:31 -0400
To supporters all over the world:
It is evident that the support for our cause is growing
immensely now.
Yesterday, we made an announcement at 4 pm rally that
we have a new
group. A unified one. A group with same goals.
This group is FSSA (Faculty, Staff, Students and Alumni).
It is time for
us to take a stand together.
Unity for Gallaudet!
Our two demands, as mentioned in the letter to BOT,
are the following:
1. The Board re-opens the presidential search process,
ensuring
equitable processes that support diversity and social
justice.
2. No reprisals be made against any of the students,
alumni, staff, or
faculty involved in this protest.
Now we are taking the next step for us to be heard.
As of an hour ago,
we have imposed an official lockdown on Gallaudet campus.
We have
already blocked the pathway between MSSD and Gallaudet
(the MSSD and
Kendall entrances are still open to ensure their education
is still
being carried out). We have already blocked the 6th
street entrance.
That leaves the front entrance of Gallaudet University
which the
students are still monitoring.
We shall not budge at all.
Not until we receive a confirmation from Chair of Board
of Trustees, Ms.
Celia May Baldwin, within 24 hours, that she will be
coming here to talk
with us. Once we receive her confirmation, we will
immediately cease our
lockdown of Gallaudet campus and proceed with next
plan of action.
From this moment, we will remain with our lockdown of Gallaudet campus.
Join us in fighting for our demands! Keep on believing in our cause, for
we shall overcome this together. Keep on sending your support to us!
Unity for Gallaudet!

Adam Jarashow
